Synaffix CSO Appointed as Professor of Bioconjugate Chemistry at Wageningen University and Research Center

The Netherlands, 01 July 2015 – Synaffix BV today announced that its CSO, Dr. Floris van Delft, has been appointed as a Professor of Bioconjugate Chemistry at Wageningen University and Research Center, in the Netherlands.

Dr. van Delft has made key contributions to the fields of metal-free click chemistry and site-specific protein conjugation. Initially (1968), he studied at Leiden University, obtaining his MSc and later his Ph.D. in Chemistry (cum laude) in 1996 in carbohydrate chemistry method development and the application of sugars as chiral building blocks. In 2000 he was awarded the VIDI grant. From 1999 to 2013, Dr. van Delft was employed by Radboud University Nijmegen, first as an assistant and most recently as an associate professor. He has authored >130 peer-reviewed publications and 14 patents.

In addition to his full-time position as the CSO of Synaffix, Dr. van Delft’s research at Wageningen will focus on the development of new click chemistry for application in the selective modification of biomolecules.
